Dr. Anthony Azzolini is a plastic surgeon at Amelia Aesthetics in Wilmington, North Carolina. He’s known for his thoughtful, patient-first approach to breast and body surgery. I’ve had the immense pleasure of training under world-class aesthetic plastic surgeons at the University of Louisville, and am thrilled to bring that level of care to Wilmington. Outside the operating room, my wife and I enjoy making pizza from scratch with our two children and two dogs.
Dr. Azzolini’s background reflects years of advanced surgical training across general and plastic surgery, giving him a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and functional aspects of care. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
His experience spans a wide range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, supported by a strong foundation in clinical research and academic medicine. He has held multiple leadership and teaching roles, including Clinical Instructor and Administrative Chief, where he helped guide surgical education and patient care standards.
Dr. Azzolini earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He then completed a rigorous general surgery residency at Rutgers–Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he also served as a Clinical Instructor and Wellness Chief. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Azzolini completed a dedicated research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
He went on to complete his plastic surgery training through the Independent Plastic Surgery Residency Program at the University of Louisville. During his time there, he served as Administrative Chief of Plastic Surgery, reflecting both his leadership and clinical excellence.
Throughout his training, Dr. Azzolini has been recognized with multiple awards for clinical excellence, research, and teaching, including Clinical Excellence and Research Awards from the University of Louisville and honors for outstanding research presentations.
He has contributed extensively to peer-reviewed medical literature, with publications spanning reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery, and surgical outcomes. His research has been presented at national and international conferences, reflecting an ongoing commitment to advancing the field of plastic surgery.
Dr. Azzolini is also an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honors Society. His involvement ensures he stays at the forefront of surgical innovation, safety standards, and best practices.
