A Note From Dr. Marcos Lopez

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a plastic surgeon. I grew up in a small town in Texas with no medical role models. I’ve always loved math, science, and 3D problem-solving.

However, it wasn’t until I became a tutor to support myself in college that I found a passion for teaching, communication, and finding ways to make complicated information easy for people to understand. When I realized that doctors get to use these skills to directly help others, I knew it was the path for me.

I enjoy understanding the patient’s goals and anatomy to create a personalized surgical plan. I’m grateful to be a part of Amelia where patient education and communication are valued. My goal is to create an environment where patients feel comfortable and informed to make decisions that best fit their lives.

Dr. Lopez serves as a plastic surgeon and CEO of Amelia Aesthetics San Antonio, where he performs a wide range of cosmetic surgical procedures with a focus on natural, balanced results. His training provided extensive experience across both reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, allowing him to develop a comprehensive, detail-oriented approach to care.

Dr. Lopez began his academic journey at the University of Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a perfect academic record and multiple honors recognizing his achievement. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons through the Columbia-Bassett program. He was recognized for outstanding academic achievement and inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

He completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina, where he received multiple honors for clinical performance, leadership, and academic excellence, including the highest score on the Plastic Surgery Inservice Exam.
